Are You A Bad Enough Dude To Complete Another Level?

Armor Games today unveiled This is The Only Level TOO, the sequel to the strangely addictive platformer with only one level, but many, many ways to play it. Players must guide the heroic elephantine protagonist to the exit pipe without touching the pointy, ubiquitous spikes. The super-simple controls, Atari-era graphics and succinct polka tune make one thing clear: creative level design is top priority. Each puzzling new iteration has a unique solution that’s hinted at by the stage title, but the exact answer is always a little hazy. This is The Only Level TOO lets gamers determine each stage’s “rules” through experimentation, trial-and-error and genuinely creative thinking.

•	100% More Levels!
•	Still Free!
•	Super meta!
•	Tons of Puzzling Stages!
•	Defy logic, gravity, and the space-time continuum!
•	Two of Those Things are True!
•	Space Out Staring at the Whirling Level Timer!
•	Bounce into the Spikes and Watch Your Death Toll Skyrocket!
•	Unlockable Velociraptor!
•	Use All Four Arrow Keys!
•	Hone Your Speedrun… at Work!

The original game has been played over 7 million times on Armor Games’ site alone. Check out the sequel, and take on the “Heroic Quest to Complete Another Level” in This is The Only Level TOO.

Here is the shortest press release that I have ever seen, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s about the newest MMO to come about – Digimon. If you watched the cartoon all those years ago (either as your guilty pleasure or with your kids), you’ll be excited. If you love anime monsters that you can control (i.e. Pokemon) then you’ll love this one as well. I’ll be keeping my eye on this one as I’m curious to see what they do with it and I’m hoping they do it right!

Good Digimon need humans to help defend the earth and the Digital World from evil Digimon. Do you have what it takes to become the best Tamer and be declared a hero among the Digimon?

More and more you see, or hear, in the news about the Tea Party Movement and how popular they are becoming. While many of you out there know all about them, the majority only have heard about them and aren’t really sure what they are about or what they are trying to do. No, I’m not an expert, but I do follow the Tea Party movement as well as what’s going on in our government today. I do however understand the main pilar behind their movement and I agree with it wholeheartedly – truth.

Truth in government – one of the main things that we fought for freedom for over two centuries ago. We want our politicians to tell the truth damn it. We’re tired of hearing one thing, then watching them do another. We’re tired of being promised everything under the sun and told what we want to hear and then having the rug pulled out from under us. We are sick and tired of politicians that feel they are “untouchable” and think that they can’t be fired.

Well guess what – you can be fired ladies and gentlemen.

You can and you will be. If you don’t believe me, simply look at some of the upsets that are going on in the political world right now - and I’m talking about both parties. Suddenly democratic states are voting in republican senators, and states that are fed up with those same old republicans that don’t seem to get it are now voting in those that do.

This is why the Tea Party movement is gaining popularity, we are all ready to stand up for the things that we believe in. We aren’t ready to go down without a fight, and we aren’t ready to give in to our politicians that just want to spend without limits, lie without consequences, and take advantage of the American people on a daily basis. I for one am extremely sick of it. Why can’t the people in our government see what’s going on and see that they are on their way out?

The answer my friends is simple – they have their heads way up their rears and they are happy being ignorant. Because hey, if they don’t know what’s going on, they don’t have to acknowledge it.

I want to see our nation become great again. I want to see other people in the world respect us again. I want to see honest politicians that will actually do what they say. I want a government that works.

Am I dreaming? No, I don’t think so. I do think that if we all pull together and stand up for the things that we believe it and hold our politicians to their words and oaths, then we can change America back to what it used to be, what it should be.

We don’t want to leave our nation a messed up ball of mush for our children and grandchildren to fix do we? I know I don’t.

I grew up with hearing stories of Pearl Harbor from my grandfather. I heard about all of the bravery, the sorrow, the terror. I saw the pictures that he managed to get home and I realized as I grew up what a great man he was and what a great generation he came from. Today, most people are whiners (yes, I’m guilty of it too), and they don’t want to take much responsiblity or action. It’s all pass the buck. So, when I sit here watching a show on the History channel that it trying to convince me that Pearl Harbor as well as 9/11 both were known about by the government and allowed to happen – I have to call bullshit.

I know that right before Pearl Harbor, there was a report that came in that Japanese planes were headed toward Hawaii and that report was kind of blown off. Do I think that was a massive mistake, obviously. Do I think that it is cause for a consipiracy theory to pop up saying that FDR knew about the attack and allowed it? Hell no.

The same goes with how I view 9/11. While I do think that our government could have nabbed Bin Laden prior to the attack, I don’t think that our government knew about an attack that massive and just said ok and allowed it to happen. And, to say that they allowed 9/11 to happen just so we could go to war in the Middle East – I really just want to smack them.

Come on, really? I don’t think that these consipiracy theories about how governments throughout time have allowed their own people to die in massive attacks over and over and over. It’s all of these “professors” and “philosophers” that create these conspiracy theories and spread them like a plague all over the web, all over the television, and create a load of crap that would feed an army.

I do have to admit that I love to hear a good conspiracy theory – most of them make me laugh. But to really consider these two conspiracy theories just cuts down every American life that was lost in those two attacks and every military life lost, every veteran that was disabled, and those that have to leave their families behind to fight for these bastards that want to spew out these theories. It pisses me off.

I have a feeling that all of these “professors” and “philosophers” have never served in the military. They have never had one of their close family members go to war, or Heaven forbid, die there. They don’t care. They simply want to get their face our there and try to get some fame off of disaster. While this has happened throughout history and will continue to happen, it makes me sad.

Test Drive the Agile 3D Online Development Engine at D.I.C.E. Summit

Simutronics today announced that the company is reorganizing into two divisions, HeroEngine and Simutronics Games. HeroEngine has seen an increase in adoption among studios of all sizes for projects ranging from games to government applications as development teams seek faster, more collaborative tools for delivering 3D online worlds on time and budget. To focus further on HeroEngine innovation and support for licensees, Simutronics promoted Neil Harris to President, HeroEngine and Herb Marselas as Vice President, Engineering. David Whatley, CEO, takes on the role of President, Simutronics Games.

“As online worlds become the gold standard for engaging experiences, HeroEngine’s applications grow far beyond their MMO roots,” said Neil Harris. “More than 20 years worth of experience has been incorporated into HeroEngine, and the result is unmatched agility and speed for anyone looking to bring their online world to life.”

HeroEngine revolutionizes online world development by enabling teams around the world to collaborate in real-time. The engine has recently been licensed for a broad array of projects including a multi-title deal with a US publisher, virtual worlds with government and non-profit applications for a European organization, and stealth-mode projects from startups and major studios in China, Europe and the US. Details on these projects will be announced in the coming months.

Previously announced HeroEngine licensees include BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic game and a stealth project from ZeniMax Online Studios.

As a result of the growth in new HeroEngine licenses, the company is undergoing rapid expansion of its development teams located near Washington, DC and St. Louis, MO. Said Herb Marselas, “We are expanding our team by hiring even more world-class engineering talent. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop the next generation of technology for a global audience.”

As President, Simutronics Games, David Whatley will focus on the development of new games for social networks and iPhone. “From our early days pioneering some of the first immersive online gaming experiences, Simutronics has been focused on two things: developing great technologies, and making great games,” said David Whatley. “I’ve always had a passion for creating games, and our new corporate structure lets us take what we’ve learned over the past two decades and focus exclusively on applying it to new gaming platforms.”

D.I.C.E. Summit attendees can learn more about how HeroEngine supports agile, collaborative 3D online development in the D.I.C.E. Lounge, located on Veranda C at the Red Rocks Casino Resort & Spa, February 16-19, 2010.

About Simutronics

Simutronics Corp. has 20 years of expertise in the business of multiplayer online games, developing innovative original entertainment and technology solutions. The company’s two divisions, HeroEngine and Simutronics Games, focus on technology development and licensing and the creation of original games, respectively.

HeroEngine is the world’s only 3D online agile development platform that supports real-time development and collaboration, reducing time and cost to market for virtual worlds and MMO (massively-multiplayer online) games. Licensees include BioWare (Star Wars: The Old Republic), ZeniMax Online, and many more around the world who demand a better process for developing and maintaining online worlds.

Simutronics Games created pioneering titles like GemStone, DragonRealms, and CyberStrike, which were best-selling games on AOL and other online services during the 1990’s. The games division now applies this expertise to titles for social and mobile gaming platforms.

Curious about the newest World of Warcraft expansion pack, Cataclysm, and what it will hold for you? Here is some of the latest information, previews into the content, and more – and it’s taking all I have not to play again so I can get this latest expansion and play a Goblin…

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is the upcoming third expansion for World of Warcraft and was officially announced on August 21, 2009 at BlizzCon 2009. The majority of the expansion content takes place in drastically reforged Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms.

It is to include the playable races of the worgen for the Alliance and the goblins for the Horde. Flying mounts will finally be usable in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. Deathwing has made his return into the ‘real world’ from Deepholm, causing a new Sundering.
Lore

From the official site:

An ancient evil lies dormant within Deepholm, the domain of earth in the Elemental Plane.

Hidden away in a secluded sanctuary, the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing has waited, recovering from the wounds of his last battle against Azeroth and biding his time until he can reforge the world in molten fire.

Soon, Deathwing the Destroyer will return to Azeroth, and his eruption from Deepholm will sunder the world, leaving a festering wound across the continents. As the Horde and Alliance race to the epicenter of the cataclysm, the kingdoms of Azeroth will witness seismic shifts in power, the kindling of a war of the elements, and the emergence of unlikely heroes who will rise up to protect their scarred and broken world from utter devastation.

Information Revealed at Blizzcon 2009

The following is a list of highlights from BlizzCon 2009.

* Level cap increased to 85.
# Zones are destroyed by lava in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. The Barrens has been split into two, and is full of canyons of lava. Wetlands is destroyed, Ashenvale hit as well. The Maelstrom churns.
# New race for the Alliance: Worgen

* Classes: death knight, druid, hunter, mage, priest, rogue, warlock and warrior.

# New race for the Horde: Goblins

* Classes: death knight, hunter, mage, priest, rogue, shaman, warlock and warrior.

# New Race / Class combinations. See the chart below.
# New monsters, quests, and zones
# Several new dungeons and raids
# 3 new battlegrounds (including “Battle for Gilneas City” [1]) and a new Wintergrasp-like PvP zone, Tol Barad
# Classic zones forever changed by the Cataclysm. The changes will be made available to all players regardless of expansion purchase.
# Ability to fly anywhere due to the Azeroth revamp. The blood elf and draenei starting zones will still be instanced.
# Guild advancement system, which includes guild leveling, talents, achievements, and accessories.
# Revamped character progression via the Paths of the Titans, Archaeology, the new secondary profession, and Ancient glyphs.
# Rated battlegrounds, an alternative way to earn arena points
# Ragnaros was banished in the Molten Core, but has now returned to burn Nordrassil.
# Malfurion Stormrage has returned from the Emerald Dream to help defend Hyjal.
# Profession level cap raised to 525 and will be named Illustrious <Profession>.
# New ability for Jewelcrafters, Engineers, Blacksmiths, Leatherworkers and Tailors called “Reforging”
# Stat changes:

* Armor penetration rating is being removed from the game. Some physical DPS specs will be able to gain armor penetration through talent trees and mastery bonuses.
* Attack power is being removed from gear. Death knights, paladins and warriors will still gain 2 attack power per point of strength, and all druids, hunters, shamans and rogues will get 2 attack power per point of agility and no attack power from strength.
* Block value is being removed from the game, blocking will provide percentile damage reduction, which can be increased through talent trees and mastery bonuses.
* Defense is being removed from the game. All tanking specs will get anti-critical hit talents similar to Survival of the Fittest.
* Haste will affect the rate at which energy, rage, focus and runes are gained. Enhancement shamans and retribution paladins will gain talents which allow them to gain similar benefits from haste.
* Mastery is being added. Mastery will provide a bonus based on the talent tree which has the most points in it, such as armor penetration or cooldown reduction.
* MP5 is being removed, all healing specs will rely on spirit for mana regeneration. Holy paladins and restoration shamans may get mana regenerations like Intensity and Meditation, or the 5 second rule may be removed. Spell DPS classes will no longer rely on spirit for mana regeneration, and spirit will no longer be on spell DPS gear.
* Spell power is being removed from items. Characters will gain spell power from intellect much like how they currently gain attack power from agility and strength.

# Many passive talents with generic bonuses, such as increased critical strike chance, damage reduction or increased healing are being removed, and each talent tree will provide passive bonuses based on the number of points invested in it.

Prominent figures

Among the many figures confirmed to have major roles in the story of Cataclysm are:

* Deathwing, formerly Neltharion the Earth-Warder, confirmed as the principal villain of the expansion.
* Thrall, whose role will be changing, possibly to relinquish command of the Horde.
* Garrosh Hellscream, possibly the new leader of the Horde.
* Varian Wrynn, who leads the Alliance after the Cataclysm.
* Malfurion Stormrage, who returns to prevent Mount Hyjal from being destroyed.
* Brann Bronzebeard, up to his old tricks as leader of the expedition into the newly-uncovered Uldum region.
* Genn Greymane, King of Gilneas, who helps administer a cure for the worgen curse to his now-transformed people.
* Nefarian, also known as Blackwing/Victor Nefarius, son of Deathwing, who survived and retreated further into Blackrock Spire.
* Ragnaros, who remains alive to challenge the world in Mount Hyjal, and later in his own elemental fire plane.
* The Twilight Hammer cult is a major player in the new expansion; its minions are revealed to be working for Deathwing.

It was originally expected that Queen Azshara would be a significant player in the expansion, but game designer Tom Chilton confirmed at the 2009 Blizzcon convention (in the Q&A session of the “Raids and Dungeons” panel) that Azshara and the city of Nazjatar would not be featured in this expansion; potentially this leaves her as a major focus of a future expansion. Blizzard does, however, list her amongst the featured players in Cataclysm, so it is possible we will feel her presence throughout the expansion, even if she does not herself make an appearance.

* Alliance Gilneas (1-15)
* Twilight Highlands (84-85)
* Tol Barad (84-85) (Outdoor PvP)
* Deathwing Scar (Entrance to Deepholm)

The Great Sea

* Horde Lost Isles (6?-15)
* Sunken City of Vashj’ir (78-82)

South Seas

* Horde Kezan (1-5?)

Elemental Plane

* Deepholm (82-84)

Zones affected by the Cataclysm
Mount Kajaro erupted on Kezan due to the Cataclysm
Kalimdor

* Darkshore: Auberdine is destroyed, and the very land torn asunder. The Alliance relocates to a new camp in the Northern end of the zone, while the Horde sets up camp to the South. Shatterspear Village, previously a closed zone, becomes an accessible subzone.
* Ashenvale: Heavier deforestation around the Warsong Lumber Camp causes the orcs to encroach on Silverwind Refuge. Zoram’gar Outpost is reinforced with black iron, similar to the Horde outposts in Northrend. Astranaar becomes the victim of air assaults launched by the Horde.
* Azshara: Azshara has been claimed by the goblins (likely as their second zone after the Lost Isles), where they have established a quarry to cut stone for the construction of their towns. The zone is also now directly linked with Orgrimmar.
* Orgrimmar: The trailer showed evidence of the front gates being reinforced with metal (like Warsong Hold). What metal is used is unknown, but at BlizzCon 2009 Tom Chilton said specifically “if you recognize the black iron… its from somewhere” [4], hinting that the metal has a specific origin or just reinforcing that we saw this type of architecture used by Garrosh in Northrend. Possibilities include dark iron, saronite or just normal iron.
* The Barrens: The Barrens is split in two by great fissures in the land, spouting fiery rivers of lava. The Northern Barrens is a level 10-20 zone, while the Southern Barrens is intended for higher level players. Portions of the Barrens have grown lush thanks to the work of the druid Naralex. The passage into Mulgore has been reinforced by the tauren, with high walls and a gate. The Alliance will be moving into the southern Barrens, constructing several towers and burning down Camp Taurajo. [5]
* Stonetalon Mountains: Eruptions decimate the landscape, spreading the flames of the Charred Vale even further. The goblins have cut through the mountains, forming a valley that leads into Ashenvale.
* Desolace: Once a barren wasteland, the Cataclysm has caused a rift to form, allowing water to flood in from the coast and bring life back to the region. However, the region is now being invaded by demons, including shivarra.

Eastern Kingdoms

* Undercity: The terrain in and around the Ruins of Lordaeron has been remodeled to accommodate flying mounts.
* Hillsbrad Foothills: Southshore is now possibly “lost”. [6]
* Wetlands: Heavily affected by Deathwing’s destructive exit from Grim Batol, with the Twilight Highlands now opened to the East.
* Silverpine Forest: The Greymane Wall has been destroyed by the Cataclysm, opening up the passage to Gilneas.
* Stormwind City: The castles and terrain surrounding Stormwind City have been remodeled to accommodate flying mounts. The Gilnean worgen have been assigned their own district.

Dungeons and raids
List of the Dungeons in Cataclysm that will ship with the game

The developers announced at BlizzCon 2009 that they intend for Cataclysm to ship with the most end-game content yet seen in an expansion.

* The Skywall
o Unnamed level 80-82 dungeon
o Unnamed raid
* Deepholm
o Unnamed level 81-83 dungeon
* Sunken City of Vashj’ir
o Abyssal Maw, level 81-83 dungeon
o Unnamed level 82-84 dungeon
o Unnamed raid
* Uldum
o Halls of Origination, level 83 dungeon
o Lost City of Tol’vir, level 84-85 dungeon
* Blackrock Mountain
o Blackrock Caverns, level 85 dungeon
o Blackwing Descent, raid inspired by Blackwing Lair
* Grim Batol
o Unnamed level 85 dungeon
o Unnamed raid against Deathwing
* The Firelands
o Raid against Ragnaros
* New old-world dungeons gaining 5-player Heroic mode
o Deadmines
o Shadowfang Keep

PvP
Battlegrounds

Battle for Gilneas City [1] will be a new battleground in which you take control of the city by taking control of the most districts in the battleground.

Battlegrounds starting with Cataclysm will be rated, like arenas, and will provide the same rewards as arenas.
Arenas

New arenas are planned to be added with the expansion.
World PvP

Tol Barad will be an outdoor PvP zone much like Wintergrasp. Unlike Wintergrasp however, Tol Barad will also be the main daily quest hub in Cataclysm. By taking control of the Tol Barad Prison, players will gain access to additional, very profitable daily quests.
Bestiary
A volcanoth, a monstrous volcano-turtle presumably found in the Firelands

* Tol’vir
* Volcanoths

Scams

Thousands of players have received e-mails inviting them to join an “alpha test”. These are scammers who are looking to capitalize on unsuspecting victims.[1]

A few points to remember if you receive an invitation to help test Cataclysm or any Blizzard product:

* Blizzard does not invite the general player base to alpha tests. It has an army of game developers and testers for that. As with the previous two expansions, beta testing will be announced by Blizzard on the official World of Warcraft website. Beware of clicking official-looking links to that site in e-mails, as scammers often build official-looking copycat sites – instead bookmark the official site or use the link on the game login screen.
* It cannot be stressed enough to players that Blizzard will never ask you for your credit card, password, user name, e-mail address or any other information it already has. This will not happen ingame, nor in e-mail. If you are asked for this info, you are very likely being scammed.

While I was reading the news this morning, I came across a story about the two different stockpiles of our chemical weapons in Colorado and Kentucky and how the government plans to get rid of them. They have had this plan in for years, slowly neutralizing our weapons in a clean, safe manner. However, now they want to actually blow some of them up on US soil – close to towns, animals, people – so they can get rid of the quicker.

Here’s my thought – why does it matter how “fast” they are taken care of? Wouldn’t it be best to do it right so that they are neutralized and won’t pose any type of threat than blasting them and praying it doesn’t escape into the air?

Jesus. Is our government really that stupid?

I hate to say it, but yes. Yes, they are. Because of pressure from countries that hate us to the core (i.e. Iran, Cuba, and so forth), our government is on the verge of giving in and blowing these chemical weapons up here on US soil. I mean, heaven forbid that we would somehow piss Iran off… gee, we’re such close allies. It’s not like they threaten us and the rest of the world on a daily basis. It’s not like they are swiftly becoming the “bullies” of the world. So hey, no biggie! Let’s give in to them and do what they say so that we can look like the great friends that we are right?!

What the hell…

Who gives two shits what Iran thinks about our stockpile of weapons and how we plan to get rid of them. They are, and have been, funneling weapons all over the world to insurgents who are trying to kill our soldiers. (Yes, there is proof of this all over, so I’m not just making this up.) They are actively trying to build nuclear weapons, and what do you think will happen when they get one? They’ll probably do one of two things: blow the hell out of Israel or another country they hate (maybe us) or they’ll sell it to the highest bidder, who will then blow the hell out of something. And, then all hell will break lose as we’ll surely be drawn into WWIII and probably a nuclear war. Yeah, that’s something I’ll look forward to… not.

So reading this story today really just pissed me off from the get go. Who gives a flying flip about what the countries that hate us think. Why would we not be more concerned about the containers of chemical weapons in these storage facilities that are leaking and neutralize them before there is an accident? Why not be more concerned about this nasty stuff getting into our air or killing people? I mean, mustard gas is not pretty. Even the government themselves admits that blowing them up would only shave a few months off of their time to finish getting rid of all of these weapons. So why not take the time and do it right the first time?

“I wouldn’t say it provides much acceleration,” Kevin Flamm, the Army’s program manager for neutralization operations at the two sites, said during briefings in December. “What it does is give us increased confidence we’ll be able to achieve the dates we announced.” Of course, he says that this wasn’t his choice either – ha, wow, ya think? He’s talking to a national news organization here, of course he’s not going to say that he wants to blow the crap up, he wouldn’t want to look like a jerk. Here’s the rest of his statement: “We’re not trying to pull the wool over anybody’s eyes,” he said. “Frankly there isn’t any other technologies we’ve found that can eliminate these weapons safely and environmentally friendly in the time frame we’re looking at.”

Ok, sure… I’ll buy that – when hell freezes over.
